Do Your Emergency Phones Work?

What to Expect from Landlines Over the Next Few Years:

30-Day Deactivation Notices

Landline carriers can now deactivate your lines with just 30 days' notice, meaning you lose code compliance and even occupancy until service is restored.

What Does This Mean for Your Occupants?

Without reliable emergency phones, occupants may face life-threatening delays in reaching help during fires, medical emergencies, or elevator entrapments, when every second counts.

Cost Savings

Legacy Landline Providers are Raising Prices

Without any incentive to maintain expensive landlines, landline providers have decided to raise prices to convince building owners to switch to another solution.

Predictably, these kinds of emergencies create dangerous situations and tend to disrupt electrical grids. Of course, during precisely this kind of situation, your emergency communications system needs to be fully operational.

Voice over IP

While code requires emergency communication systems to have battery backup, most Voice over IP solutions on the market today DO NOT have adequate (or any) battery backup.

All Elevate units meet or exceed the minimum battery backup requirements for life safety lines.

To choose Voice over IP is to invest in a safety solution that is more difficult to install, harder to maintain, and most importantly OUT OF CODE. This means your building occupants are unsafe, and you could be held liable for the weaknesses of your system if it were to fail when needed most.

It is not worth the risk. Partner with Elevate Systems for a more dependable, compatible, easily maintained, and FirstNet-enabled solution, all at a lower operating expense.

About Us

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions, answered.

A finger pressing an elevator lobby button
Why are traditional landlines going away?

As of August 2, 2022, the FCC ruled that landline providers are no longer required to maintain landlines, which are costly to maintain and outdated.

What is Voice over IP?

Voice over IP is a technology that uses the internet to allow users to make phone calls. Because of this, Voice over IP is highly sensitive to network or power outages, making it an unreliable choice for emergency phones.

Why is Voiceover IP illegal?

Code requires phone lines to have battery backup for each link in the phone’s connection to emergency services. Because of the nature of Internet-activated phones, many more battery backups need to be installed along the chain to ensure these phones stay working when the power goes out. This gets expensive quickly, thus these essential additional backups are rarely installed, making the solution out-of-code and illegal.

What are the consequences of having an out-of-code emergency communication system?

Occupants are at risk, fines can be issued, occupancy can be restricted, and building owners can be held liable for installing an emergency phone system that is unreliable.

What is AT&T FirstNet?

FirstNet is the first responder, government-managed partnership with AT&T using a frequency designed exclusively for emergency communication.

What is a UL-Listed Call Center?

UL stands for Underwriters Laboratories, who are a global not-for-profit safety company that tests products and systems to ensure they meet safety standards. UL-Listed means UL have tested and verified that our offering meets the strict safety regulations it recommends for call centers.

Do Elevate units have service inside most buildings?

So far, we have not encountered a building where the signal has not penetrated the structure to reach our units.

Can Elevate units be installed in temporary structures?

Yes

Do Elevate units work in all temperatures?

Elevate units need to be in a temperature-controlled environment. We enclose our units in NEMA boxes to ensure full functionality in harsh environments. This is something that comes with an additional cost.

What cellular frequency does Elevate operate on?

FirstNet operates on the 700MHz band, Band 14, a dedicated spectrum set aside for emergency communications. We also use 4G and 5G networks for certain applications.

Why don’t your competitors have access to FirstNet?

Our competitors sell FirstNet Certified equipment, but they can only use it with customers who qualify for access, such as emergency services or first responders. If the customer does qualify and is approved by FirstNet, the customer pays for the cellular service directly to FirstNet and then use that SIM card in the provided equipment provided by our competitors. Our competitors then charge the end user for the monitoring services. We offer the only turnkey, bundled package, without the extra step.

Does your communicator transmit and receive?

Our units can place and receive calls.
