Landlines and VoIP
4 questions
Why are traditional landlines going away?
As of August 2, 2022, the FCC ruled that landline providers are no longer required to maintain landlines, which are costly to maintain and outdated.
What is Voice over IP?
Voice over IP is a technology that uses the internet to allow users to make phone calls. Because of this, Voice over IP is highly sensitive to network or power outages, making it an unreliable choice for emergency phones.
Why is Voiceover IP illegal?
Code requires phone lines to have battery backup for each link in the phone’s connection to emergency services. Because of the nature of Internet-activated phones, many more battery backups need to be installed along the chain to ensure these phones stay working when the power goes out. This gets expensive quickly, thus these essential additional backups are rarely installed, making the solution out-of-code and illegal.
What are the consequences of having an out-of-code emergency communication system?
Occupants are at risk, fines can be issued, occupancy can be restricted, and building owners can be held liable for installing an emergency phone system that is unreliable.

What is a UL-Listed Call Center?
UL stands for Underwriters Laboratories, who are a global not-for-profit safety company that tests products and systems to ensure they meet safety standards. UL-Listed means UL have tested and verified that our offering meets the strict safety regulations it recommends for call centers.
What cellular frequency does Elevate operate on?
FirstNet operates on the 700MHz band, Band 14, a dedicated spectrum set aside for emergency communications. We also use 4G and 5G networks for certain applications.
Why don’t your competitors have access to FirstNet?
Our competitors sell FirstNet Certified equipment, but they can only use it with customers who qualify for access, such as emergency services or first responders. If the customer does qualify and is approved by FirstNet, the customer pays for the cellular service directly to FirstNet and then use that SIM card in the provided equipment provided by our competitors. Our competitors then charge the end user for the monitoring services. We offer the only turnkey, bundled package, without the extra step.
Elevate units
4 questions
Do Elevate units have service inside most buildings?
So far, we have not encountered a building where the signal has not penetrated the structure to reach our units.
Can Elevate units be installed in temporary structures?
Yes
Do Elevate units work in all temperatures?
Elevate units need to be in a temperature-controlled environment. We enclose our units in NEMA boxes to ensure full functionality in harsh environments. This is something that comes with an additional cost.
Does your communicator transmit and receive?
Our units can place and receive calls.
